There are many interesting areas of interest in the new Maker efforts that have become popular. I enjoy designing, building, and programming microcomputer based projects, especially around the Home Automation area. In this section, I hope to share ideas and plans for items of broad interest.
In the home automation area, I am using the open source project Home Assistant as an integration platform because no single manufacturer provides interoperability among all products. There are some folks who have followed the automation area because “they can”, but I prefer to make sure that I have a clear problem I am trying to solve before I invest money in a solution. I discuss these goals on my home automation pages.
I have also built other projects that involves hardware, software, or both. An example of this is the CompuLign project that uses my maker background to solve a problem in my antique radio hobby area.
