After retirement, I started a hobby in 2010 to restore and collect Antique radios, mostly those from the 1930’s and 1940’s which was the peak of the era of classic radios. Given my education in Electrical Engineering I have been able to repair the circuitry and , in many cases, restore the radio to its original state. With a lot of guidance from my brother Allan and his 40 years of experience in woodworking and refinishing, I am able to now complete a full restoration of the cabinet using the original lacquer finish process which makes for a nice looking radio. It is great to see and hear these icons of years gone by. I maintain a collection of radios for myself and have restored over 50 radios for others.
